Comment:
I like this art work first of all because it is very simple! It is different from other art works that I've searched for this topic. Plus, I love the movement of the guy and the horse in the picture. It is very lively and somehow funny to me. The artwork is actually very interesting. If you notice, the guy in the picture seem helpless with the angry horse but he is actually controlling the horse and the horse is the only one which has to follow the guy direction.

House of Blues

This is the BEST field trip so far to me!
When Gitte said we were going to the HOB I had no idea what it was. The only picture in my head at that time was a big museum with all blue decorations or something like that.
When we first arrived to the place, I found out that it was not a museum but it was a bar. I was not quite sure what it was until later. I found out House of Blue was a museum, restaurant, theater and bar combined! It was so amazing!
I’m very amazed by the decorations of HOB. It was scary that the first time, but I grew to like it. It’s mysterious, clam and private. I’m IN LOVE with the foundation rooms. Hearing those rooms just ONLY for the V.I.Ps of HOB made me feel special and lucky of being there, because I probably I don’t enough money to become a special member of HOB.

The tour was great and I loved our tour guide. She’s very friendly, fun and knowledgeable. I got so much information about the HOB from her, which made me more interested of the house.
Overall, I loved this field trip! I was happy that Gitte chose this for our second field trip. She surprised me! I’m looking forward for the next field trip! I’m very excited!

Leonardo Da Vinci & The Code He Lived By

1.About the documentary:
This documentary is made by History Channel. It talks about some of the major events and influences in Da Vinci’s life. It's not only telling an famous artist life story but also the chronicle of formation of a great genius.
Leonardo was the illegitimate son of a Florentine notary named Ser Piero and Caterina, a poor farmer’s daughter. He grew up in Vinci, Italy. After then his name became "Leonardo Da Vinci" means "Leonardo from Vinci". Da Vinci was born in a poor family he didn't have any financing help from family, or even family name. However, he had something different, the imagination.

Leonardo started life in a world of violence. For the lower class life was cheap. Leonardo sought to associate with a guild, but his vague birthright would stop him from that. Only his artistic talent could save him. Da Vinci learned that artist had access to the powerful. The rich and prosperous would commission paintings and statues. He could work for leading the family of Florence, the Medici.

While working with the master artist, Andrea del Verrocchio, Leonardo learned the self disciplines that would make him a perfectionist.

2.My reaction about the film:

This documentary was not easy to understand. It was a hard movie that I accidentally picked.I needed a lot of outside information to understand the whole film. That's why my summary has some of the additional ideas from different sources.

The documentary, however, has many different reactions from different viewers. I've read negative and positive comments about the movie. Some said the documentary is exaggerating Leonardo Da Vinci life, some said it is somewhat very true to his life. To my opinion, this is a first time I watch a film about Leonardo Da Vinci so I don't have much idea but I think the documentary has described his whole life in every details and i think the film is more of political view of Da Vinci life then his artistic life.

I didn't really like the documentary, mostly because I didn't understand it very well and I needed help from other reviews. Overall, this documentary somehow helped me to understand more of a famous artist, in a different point of view.

I like it!

I've had an awesome time with our art class on the flied trip. It's totally worth the money. Haha.
I've never been in an art museum before and this was my first time, also in Chicago, not my native country.
It is very interesting to see how big the museum is and they have all kinds of art works. From paintings to objects. From Asian to European culture. From the ancient to the modern style.
I kept asking Gitte that if those paintings were real because to me, the Picasso's or Van Gogh's paintings I've seen were through the books or those "copy" or "fake" paintings in my country. So, the first time in my life, I saw the original paintings from the famous artists. Having a chance to get close to it, to see every details on the paintings, how thick the paint is on the canvas and so on. It's just an amazing feeling to me.
I can tell it is so much better to see those art works in real life more than through the books. They inspire me, a lot.
However, we didn't have enough time to do all the assignment of the day and we didn't have a chance to see the Marc Chagall's America Windows, even though I really want to check them out.
Overall, I think the field trip was very successful. I've learned a lot from it. I can't wait for the next Webnesay to tell the class how I felt after this filed trip.

The Art Institute of Chicago

So far, I think the AIC museum is very interesting! They have tons of collections in here. From many cultures and from many ages! I'm especially interested in those Marc Chagall's Windows from the youtube video that I've watched on AIC web site. They are very beautiful. The process of making them were amazing. To me, I think the AIC website are very organized and they have everything that you want to learn from art! It's not only of Chicago artistic culture but also around the world. I like the collections they have on the website. I can easily find at least one collection that I'm interested in. Plus, I like the photograph collection. They have many and many stunning photograph from old times until now.
Overall, I'm looking forward to the field trip and I hope we all will have a good time!
